EDGE BAPTIST CHURCH

Edge Baptist Church began as" Edge Chapel Baptist Church" when it was founded in 1904. The congregation voted to change the name to "Edge" in July of 1905. The church is currently located just 8 miles from Brookneal at 3232 Epsons Road in Gladys, VA. Sunday School for all ages is offered and we have a Vacation Bible School each year. We honor the veterans of the community on Memorial Day and Veterans Day, as well as the more traditional recognition of mothers, fathers, grandparents and the fellowship of our annual Homecoming,  as those respective dates occur on the church calendar. Thanksgiving and Christmas are celebrated each year with particular attention given to meaningful and heartfelt appreciation for the mercy and grace provided us through the sacrificial death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Resurrection Sunday (Easter) includes a Sunrise Service and joyous proclamation of the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus and His provision for salvation through the power of His shed Blood and the reality of the Empty Tomb. Our church observes a Communion Service every other month and we support the mission efforts of those here in Virginia, the USA, and around the world. We seek to reach out to those in need within our church family and to those here in our immediate community.  There are some who call us,"the church on the hill with the big heart."

Edge Baptist recently called a new pastor at the end of April in 2018. He is Dr. Jerry P. Jordan. Dr. Jordan, and his wife Patricia, have been married for 37 years and have called this community "home" since 1994. They have raised 5 children here and have served at churches in Halifax County, Charlotte County, and now in Campbell County at Edge. Pastor Jordan served in the United States Marine Corps and is a Vietnam Veteran. He has done pulpit supply and been a conference speaker throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and also has served as a seminary professor and produced a radio Bible broadcast.  Pastor Jordan states," Patricia and I want to serve the fine God-fearing folks at Edge Baptist and be used by God to encourage and edify the Body of Christ both within the Edge Baptist family of believers and in this part of the Commonwealth. We both believe that God sent us to Edge at this season of our lives and marriage and are trusting HIM for the opportunity to love and feed people with the profound Truth of the Word of God." The folks at Edge are " people of the Book" and we are about " the Book, the Blood, and the Return of the Lord Jesus Christ to this earth to rule and reign."  Dr. Jordan wants you to know that he preaches the Bible according to the instructions that the Apostle Paul gave to young Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15, and that is " rightly dividing the word of truth" and by offering Dispensational Bible study for this Age of Grace.
